The base

Iedere Jieldé lamp is uitgerust met een aluminium plaat (en soms een sticker). De armaturen van Jieldé die wij hier behandelen zijn allemaal van de Jieldé Loft Serie. The Loft Series:
Het eerste ontwerp uit 1950 ook wel de ?standaard? genoemd

The LAK Series:
Angular version of the Loft Series, often used in hospitals (late 1960s-early 1970s)

The Signal Series:
Smaller version of the Loft Series performed without the sliding contacts. Introduced in 2006.

The Aicler Series:
This is a variant of the Signal Series with cover (round or rectangular)
Introduced in 2019

Augustin / Clement / Beaumont / Dante:
The pendant lamp series from Jieldé introduced in 2010

Moving on

Below a version of a model from 2016

This plate is always placed on the neck of the shade / globe.
In the old copies, the plate is always riveted to the lamp, yet it is difficult to use it to date the lamp.
The numbers were in fact used to assess worker productivity or inventory inventory.
So these cannot be related to a specific time span in that way.
Mostly the lamps were delivered in batches directly to machine manufacturers.
Because of this we come across, for example, blue and black labels that are otherwise identical.

You have to know

The method to exactly date your old model is initially to find out the date of manufacture of the machine on which the Jieldé was used. .
So ask the selling party for these details.
Secondly, data such as original paint (green or gray) can be indications.
Furthermore, the design of the fitting is important.
The short fitting with a ceramic collar, for example, were used for the first lamps in the early 1950s

What is certain:

The plates that have been riveted are older than the plates that have been glued;
If the plate is numbered, it is usually a more recent model from 2000 onwards

What we encounter a lot

The three most common original plate colors of riveted plates are:
Black, Green and Blue
Date: late 1950's to 1980's

Rare

The exceptions confirm the rule as with the very rare plates.
Here, for example, the company to which was supplied was stated: “British Central Electrical”. It also happens that the Green plate is made up in the layout of the black or blue plate.

Jieldé geschiedenis

In the workshop of Jean-Louis Domecq who was a mechanic by trade, the design was born from the desire to design “the perfect lamp” for his own work. After a few adjustments the design was finished in April 1950.
It met the requirements perfectly: A simple strong lamp versatile and resistant to harsh conditions.
Success came immediately after Jean Louis industrialized production in 1951/52. In 1953 he founded a company that started marketing this lamp. The founder's initials formed the basis of the name: J ean- L ouis D omecq = J ie LD é
